During times of high fire danger, the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) encourages all municipalities to inform the OFC immediately at [email protected] when implementing or changing the status of municipal burning restrictions.
The OFC asks municipalities and Fire Chiefs for the following information when a change has occurred:
Rural municipalities must have by-laws in place to enact burning restrictions for their areas.
For more information on how to develop and implement by-laws, please visit:
https://firecomm.gov.mb.ca/support_bylaws.html
To learn about possible burning restrictions in effect, click on the magnifying glass on the left-hand toolbar of the map below, and click on the drop-down arrow to bring up a list of municipalities. Choose the municipality you are interested in and click "Apply". Click on the arrow to see more information on burning restrictions in that municipality as well as contact information should you have further questions.
Manitoba Citizens: If you have questions regarding possible restrictions in your municipality, please contact your municipal office or your local fire department.
Municipal Offices: If you have questions about the Municipal Burning Restrictions interactive map, contact the Office of the Fire Commissioner at [email protected] or call toll-free at 1-800-282-8069.
Questions concerning restrictions in a provincial park or unorganized lands should be directed to the Fire and Travel Restrictions map at www.gov.mb.ca/conservation_fire/Restrictions/index.html.
During the wildfire season there may be times when high to extreme fire danger conditions require the Manitoba government to implement fire and travel restrictions within the province.
For more information on the province's Fire and Travel Restrictions, Burning Permit Area, and Burning Permits, please contact your local Manitoba Natural Resources office or visit www.gov.mb.ca/conservation_fire/Restrictions/index.html.
